On August 26, Evolve brought a large team of kids and adults to participate in the Muay Thai Development League tournament in Emeryville, CA. There, they were all tested to see what kind of skills they could display under pressure and excitement, and the results were a testament to their heart and dedication. We are proud that their strong spirits shone through, just as we expected from our well-trained team.
The athletes worked together as a team to support and inspire each other when things got tough. Most importantly, they were there for each other throughout the entire process. These attributes are crucial to the development of our team, and we are extremely proud of all of them.
These scrimmages help practitioners develop skills, learn from mistakes, and discover themselves as Muay Thai fighters. In this post, we explore the benefits of attending tournaments for young athletes and how it can aid in their growth. Whether a seasoned competitor or just starting out, read on to learn why these events are important to their progression!
Here are a few reasons why participating in a tournament can be beneficial for kids:
1. Exposure to new experiences
Tournaments offer children the opportunity to experience new environments, meet new people, and learn. This exposure can broaden their horizons and help them develop a greater appreciation for their art.
2. Opportunity to learn from others
Attending a tournament allows children to observe and learn from other students and coaches. They can see different techniques and strategies in action, and gain inspiration from the skills and accomplishments of others.
3. Builds sportsmanship
Tournaments emphasize the importance of sportsmanship, including respecting opponents, following rules, and being gracious in both victory and defeat. Children can learn these values firsthand and build a sense of camaraderie amongst each outer.
4. Encourages goal-setting
Attending a tournament can inspire children to set goals and work towards achieving them. They can see the rewards of hard work and dedication, and set their sights on achieving similar success in their own endeavors.
5. Fosters a sense of community
Tournaments bring together athletes, coaches, and families from different areas and backgrounds. This sense of community can create lasting bonds and connections, and help children feel a sense of belonging and support.
Overall, attending a tournament can be a valuable experience for children, providing them with exposure to new experiences, opportunities to learn and grow, and a sense of community. Whether they are competing or spectating, children can benefit from the positive values and experiences that tournaments have to offer and we strongly encourage parents to consider them the next time around.
